Getting Here

Cagayan de Oro is considered the gateway to Northern Mindanao. So, whether you’re coming from other parts of the country or traveling halfway around the world, it is very accessible.

You have three options for getting to Cagayan de Oro:

1.) If you prefer to take the airplane, three airlines currently fly to CDO daily: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia. You can check airline schedules online.

If you’re coming from outside the Philippines, you can fly in via Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport) or Cebu (Mactan International Airport).

For local travelers, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific fly regularly to CDO from almost any point in the country. Air Asia, on the other hand, has direct flights from Cebu.

Tigerair Philippines also has flights from Singapore to Cagayan de Oro (via Manila).

Flights are at the new Laguindingan Airport, which is roughly 46 kilometers from Cagayan de Oro. As the airport is quite far from the city proper, several shuttle services offer transportation options for travelers. You’ll find their booths outside the airport’s arrival area. Or, you can book ahead of time.

2.) If you prefer to travel by boat, you have quite a number of options.

Cebu Ferries travels to Cagayan de Oro once a week from Cebu, Dumaguete, and Jagna (Bohol).

2GO Travel has daily boat trips from Manila to CDO, while Cebu-CDO trips are scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Meanwhile, Trans-Asia has daily trips from Cebu to Cagayan de Oro.

Rates for boat travel vary according to your choice of accommodation: Economy, Tourist, Cabin, Presidential Suite. Some accommodations come with free meals. Travel time varies, too; but most are overnight trips.

3.) For those who are traveling from any point in Mindanao, you can choose to come to Cagayan de Oro by bus. There are two major bus terminals in the city, one in Bulua and one in Agora.
